We all feel things.
As humans, we are emotional creatures.
No matter how hard we try to avoid our emotions.
The body feels what the body feels.
The discomfort of pain, loss, grief, sorrow, fear, and regret are inevitable.
For if we live in the world, we will experience all of it.
As well as love, joy, happiness, excitement, and bliss.
They are all a part of what makes us human.
We might tell ourselves that we will not regret what we have done.
And truly believe it.
Yet regret creeps in nonetheless.
Or we could close ourselves off so we won't feel the agony or pain of loss.
But by doing so, we have lost something precious indeed.
One day, often when we have no choice but to face our feelings, we may find that there is a great deal of regret and pain inside of us.
Telling ourselves we will not feel it, we will just ignore it, and keep going, only works for so long.
And the tears will flow.
The screaming, sobbing and crying will be uncontrollable.
Our bodies will writhe as the feelings we have forced down and tried to avoid make their way from our unconscious to our consciousness.
Like a tsunami that comes crashing down on our head.
For the longer we have avoided these painful feelings, the stronger they will be when we finally do feel them.
There is no thinking our way out of feeling.
No place to hide from our own true heart.
So as these energies rise to the surface and flow out from our nervous system, they clear a path in their wake.
The amazing thing is that once we have braved the torrents of emotion and truly felt our way through it all, there is a sense of relief.
An exhaustion that follows the waves of distress.
And once we recover from that wildfire, we might just find that we are better able to feel gratitude.
Having felt all the horrible feelings that we have been suppressing for so long, we are now able to feel the emotions we actually want to feel.
For when we cut ourselves off from feeling, we cut ourselves off from all feelings.
When we allow and embrace the feeling that are present, then we can feel everything.
The elation that waits for us is just on the other side of all that fear and pain.
Isn't it about time we stop running away from our feelings?
