In this society there always seems to be a rush to the next big thing.

To create the next big tech breakthrough.

Or make something new and different.

So much energy get s put into moving forward.

We are running at breakneck speed to the future.

A future that we are creating with all of our actions today.

Yet in the midst of all this effort there is an important question we seem to forget to ask.

One that gets lost in the push to be the next superstar.

To be the next person to become a billionaire.

And that question is, just because we can do something, should we?

How often do we stop to think that just because something can be done, can be created, should it?

This is a much more important question than we really understand.

For so much of the world around us is all about doing the impossible.

Climbing the next big mountain.

Discovering the next big secret to be harnessed for our own profit.

When we stop to take a moment to really think about what we are doing, these questions can truly serve us to make sure we are doing something that benefits us all.

Not just in the short term, but in the long term as well.

If we take a pause, take a moment to just stop and consicer the implications of what we are doing, perhap we might come up with an answer that surprises us.

Perhaps we will realize that it might not be a good thing that we create something that has the potential to harm masses of people.

Maybe we can see how disruptive a new technology could be so that we can go about developing it more mindfully.

More thoughtful of the tremendous implications it will have.

Taking time to consider all the implications of our actions might not mean stopping what we are doing altogether.

It could just help us realize that there is a different way, or a better way, to go about creating what we are creating.

Progress does not have to stop.

But would it really be so bad to slow things down a little?

Especially in a world that is changing so fast that most people cannot keep up with it.

So if we take a few moments to just stop, breathe, and really think through on the implications of our work with some forethought, perhaps we can avoid some disasters in the future.

Perhaps we can find a better way to move forward that will serve all of us, and not just a few of us.

Would it really be so bad if we just took a little more time to think about all of this?

Our decisions matter, our choices matter.

Isn't it time we started to act like it they do?
