To feel lost is something we all experience.

Not knowing what to do.

Or where to turn to.

Sometimes we don't even know what we need to not feel lost.

Feeling lost is not about our location or the road we are on.

It is not about who we are with or where we are.

The feeling of being lost is more about a disconnection.

A disconnection with ourselves.

For when we are cut off from our own internal compass, we feel lost.

Not knowing which way to go in our lives or what our next step is.

And finding our way through that feeling can be more challenging than we expect.

Things can be going quite well for us and we can still feel lost.

There might not be any external reason for feeling lost.

Yet we still do.

We doubt ourselves and our ability to make a decision.

Confidence feels far away and fleeting.

And nothing seems to comfort us.

For it is as if we are in a big black hole and no matter which way we turn we see don't see a way through.

Our sense of our ability to make the right choice can feel tenuous at best.

Nothing feels certain or even real at times.

Being lost can feel like we are on an endless ocean, adrift and at the whim of the currents.

There is no steering for we lost our rudder.

The uncertainty can feel overwhelming.

No one else can say anything to help us.

For the way through has to come from within us.

To reconnect with our heart, our spirit, is an internal journey.

Not one that anyone else can do for us.

We must make that journey ourselves.

It can feel lonely and full of dread.

And our worst fears may play out in our mind.

Uncertainty is one of the more difficult things for us to cope with.

As if we are floating in space with nothing to grab on to.

This is when we must come back to our breath.

And truly look deep into why we are feeling so lost.

So uncertain.

For rarely is the source something external.

Although something external may trigger the feeling.

It is something that is living inside us, that was probably always there even if we didn't recognize it.

Perhaps it comes from a situation in our past.

A situation where we didn't know where to go or what to do.

And we never fully processed or released that feeling.

It might be from a time when we were very young, or even as an adult.

Facing and processing that feeling of being lost is not something we are taught or learn from someone else.

It is not something spoken about in our usual conversations.

If someone else has not experienced for themselves, nothing they say can truly comfort us.

For it is a feeling that we hold in our body and our nervous system.

Unwinding that feeling is something that takes time, space, and support from someone who truly knows what that feels like.

Yet ultimately it is a path that we must walk ourselves.

A path inward, to find our own internal compass.

To find our north star that points the way forward.

No one else can see that star for us.

We must raise our eyes up and find it in our own internal night's sky.

So that we can find the internal light to shine upon our path.

And know that we are guided by our own spirit, our own heart.

Once we do, we can find a renewed sense of strength and purpose.

One that is not easily shaken or doubted.

Our footsteps will be stronger and more secure moving forward.

For we will have found a new map, a new compass, a new way of being in the world.

Have you ever felt lost in your own life?

Did you find the way through to new path?
