It can be easy to be taken out of presence.

To worry about what is going on in the world today.

Seeing the big issues that the world is facing right now.

And getting anxious about what will happen tomorrow.

That is how the mind works to try to keep us safe.

The paradox is that in the current moment, everything may be fine.

Taking ourselves out of presence truly does not serve us.

Focusing on things that are far beyond our day-to-day life may not really be of benefit to us.

Not that we should ignore the future or what is happening all over the world.

Far from it.

It is about being grounded in the present moment where we live.

For it is only in the present moment that we can exercise our power and our strength.

Only by staying present can we make better choices and proper decisions that will affect our future and the world around us.

By taking care of ourselves physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, we can then show up with more mindfulness and awareness.

When we get depressed by focusing on the state of the world, we lose our will to act.

If we allow ourselves to be so concerned with the future that it paralyzes us in the present, we have lost our ability to do something about it.

Staying grounded in the here and now is the only way to regain our ability to do something about it.

To show up in a better way.

And to be better prepared for any emergency or crisis that we may need to face tomorrow.

We are here today, in this hour, this minute.

What can we do from here?

How can we cultivate our power to make better choices today that will give us a better future tomorrow?

This is the power of presence.

The here and now leads us to the future.

Taking care of today will prepare us better for whatever may come tomorrow.

We can consider what is going on elsewhere is the world and what we can do to help.

Being grounded in the present moment keep us from being carried away by all the thoughts and fears that may surround the bigger picture.

So what practices can you do to help keep you in the present moment?
