Healing can be very deep work.
To get to our core wounds can be challenging.
Submerging into our unconscious to find what drives us.
Going to those dark places we want to shine a light on.
It can take time to get there.
Our nervous system may need to go slow to get there.
And no two people have exactly the same path.
Yet the most challenging part of looking into the depths of our souls can be very simple.
To admit that we feel so bad about ourselves, so disgusted with ourselves, that we don't deserve any happiness, is more difficult than just about anything else.
Once we touch upon these deep dark feelings, we can feel worse than when we were just numb.
We can feel defeated and awful, wondering why we ever started this path to begin with.
When we are in the midst of our despair, it can feel like there is no way out and no way forward.
Most of the time we walk around so cut off from our feelings and our emotions that we get comfortable with not feeing anything.
We learn to survive without feeling much joy, and without feeling much pain.
Yet the pain is still there.
Still lying dormant just waiting for us to find a way to it.
The feeling that rise up can over-power everything else.
We can fear not being able to function when we are that deep in our process.
And our anguish feels so profound that we feel we are the only ones that feel that way.
Though when we dare to confide in another person, to let them know how awful we feel about ourselves, that they can relate to us because they feel the same way.
When we have the safety to truly open up to someone else, there can be a tremendous relief just saying the words.
Just speaking out loud how we feel inside moves these deep dark secrets into the light.
The awareness that they are present within us, begins the healing process.
We can learn with unwind and untangle the blackest knots inside of us.
Making space for the unimaginable inside of us to be revealed, shared, and honored.
In that honoring, we find what we truly seek.
The relief that comes from moving that ancient energy inside of us.
To process it, integrate it, and bring it into our awareness so that it no longer rules our lives from the depths of the unconscious.
That is where our healing lies.
And that is where our true freedom lies.
