[NEW EPISODE] Recruiting Your Next CEO
“As a board member of a nonprofit organization, the most important responsibility you are likely to assume will be to hire your chief executive officer.”
So starts the book, A Guide To Recruiting Your Next CEO. Author Dennis Miller walks us through.
Tony introduces his guest, Dennis Miller. Dennis opens the show by discussing his book and the reasons behind him writing it. He talks about how culture change was one of the most important reason. He discusses how in the next several years there will be a plethora of leadership positions that will open up. He believes his book will help people recruit the next CEO of their non-profit organization. He ends the segment by letting the audience know that searching for a new CEO/CFO is an exciting experience, not something that should be feared.
Dennis now discusses the final steps of the recruiting process. He gives his recommendations on when he thinks candidates should meet the board members. Dennis makes the point to emphasize how the board members are the ones that make the final decision on the new hire, not the search committee. He then shares his opinion on having CO-CEOs. Tony has Dennis discuss the negotiation process after you decide to hire someone. Dennis ends the show by discussing the on-boarding process.
