Segment #1:
Tony opens the show by introducing the author of “No One Dreams of Being a Fundraiser”, Mitchell Linker. Mitchell talks about his experiences with music and how it influenced him at a young age. Mitchell talks about the different instruments that he played.
Segment #2:
Mitchell opens this segment by continuing the conversation in regards to music. Tony has Mitchell discuss the hardships of fundraising and being in a band. He begins to discuss his path to fundraising, which was unorthodox, but helped him become the person he is today. Even though Mitchell was in a band, he always had day jobs; he begins to discuss them. He begins to discuss the people who inspired/encouraged him. The segment ends with Tony playing one of Mitchell’s songs.
Segment #3:
Mitchell talks about how he’s self-educated. He also talks about how he has a mentor. He encourages everyone to have a mentor. Michell delves into some of the lessons he has learned from his mentor. He shares some of his experiences with fundraising. He then talks about different campaigns within fundraising. He ends the segment by discussion rejection, and how it shaped him.
Segment #4:
Mitchell continues to discuss the many aspects of fundraising. He says he realizes that it’s not about him (the solicitor), it’s about the organization. He talks about how he’s met some incredible people throughout his 10 year career as a fundraiser. He gives the audience a few travel tips that he lives by as a fundraiser. Mitchell ends the show by giving advice to those that are looking to get in the field of fundraising/ gift officer.
