Live music opened up the 450th show. This anniversary show brought with it the annual appearance of Scott Stein with live music on keyboard and co-host Claire Meyerhoff, a consultant for nonprofits. After reminiscing on past episodes Scott performed the song Cheap Red Wine, a song previously featured on the show. After a give-a-way of Cura Coffee Tony took a call with Gene Talagiand, aka ‘Gene Gene the Law-Machine’.
Tony, Claire, and Scott discussed the New York Times article Have We Hit Peak Podcasts? Focusing on the difficulty of having a long-running show. Long time contributor Amy Sample Ward of NTEN.org called in to discuss the submission process for session proposals for the upcoming conference 20NTC in Baltimore.
Claire gave a This Day in History style piece with musical accompaniment about New York, non-profits, and other general historical facts. From Madison Wisconsin sponsor Yigit called in. After another Cura Coffee give away Tony gave a Live Listener Love/Podcast Pleasantries shout out to the various locations of listeners across the globe. Claire then did a guess whose birthday round with musical clues/accompaniment with Scott Stein. Tony’s dad, who was in the studio, chimed in to say hi on air. Scott Stein then played an original song.
Sponsor Peter Penapento of turn-two.co called in to talk about his business and a previous episode of Tony’s show he was on years ago. They also talked about Fundraising Fundamentals a show they produced together in 2010. Marie Semple of theprospectfinder.com called in. She first was on the show in 2012. She recommended trying out Linkedin’s free premium feature for advanced search abilities. Tony and Claire then gave an outro/front announced next weeks show.
