It’s Friday again! Which means it’s time to Look Beyond as Joan and Priya welcome two more TedX Lincoln Square speakers Antuan Magic Raimone and Sarah Montana.
Joan and Priya begin by sharing their wins of the week, celebrate International Women’s Day and welcome their guests TedX Lincoln Square Speakers Antuan Magic Raimone and Sarah Montana.
Joan’s Wins of the week: Celebrating a book launch for Dr. Daryl Gioffre’s book Get off your Acid which also had guest appearances from two of the Housewives of New York. Her other win of the week is getting her first check for a speaking engagement.
Priya’s Win of the week: Getting ready to host the Women of Distinction event for this Sunday.
Along with Antuan and Sarah, they get a surprise call in from TedX Lincoln Square Executive Producer Tricia Brook. Antuan and Sarah discuss what it is like working with Tricia, how they went about planning their talks, and describe how they “Look Beyond.”
Tricia on what advice she’d give to prospective speakers: “Practice your speech in front of a mirror and then continue to practice with an expanding crowd to help in handling the stress of speaking.”
They go Three for Three again with Katie Claire. She continues to celebrate Irish Heritage Month. She combines the celebrations of Irish Heritage and International Women’s Day by discussing the contributions of Mary Robbins. Joan and Priya delve into the topics of Antuan and Sarah’s speeches. Discussing the process and the need to forgive with Sarah and why Antuan describes himself as a survivor.
Antuan Raimone on why he is a survivor: “I’m a survivor because I’m able to see the pain that I experienced and not let it get in my way.
Antuan Raimone: “Fear is the greatest motivator and the biggest inhibitor.”
Joan and Priya wrap up the show by asking Magic and Sarah what kind of reaction they want from their audience as well as the current and future works. From Sarah writing screenplays for the Hallmark channel to Magic’s work with Hamilton.
Sarah Montana: “What I’m passionate about is helping people know that they are not alone.”
