Live Life Your Way!.
[EPISODE] Splendid Spoon
Join Noreen as she mashes it up with Nicole Centeno, CEO & Founder of Splendid Spoon.
Discover how life can be unpredictable. She has two kids and is running her own business. Life gets messy with food spilling and children bugging out and having fits. Nicole chooses to laugh instead of be stressed out.
Splendid Spoon is 5 years old, a 1st grader. Born out of a need for healthy living, it adds fruits, vegetables, healthy living, and eating and includes colors, healthy bodies, and healthy minds. Splendid Spoon – when you give to yourself you, in turn, you give to others.
Being a contribution to her life and passing it on is how a great business was born.
Noreen starts this segment full of excitement as she talks about her week. She introduces her guest Nicole who talks about how she created Splendid Spoon: While working at her desk at her office job, she quickly realized she didn’t want to continue to do that everyday so she went to Culinary school at night. She talks about the growth of her business and how the way she prepared the soup changed over time. She went from starting with a pot then getting a bigger pot, then working her way up to a incubator kitchen. The ladies talk about the role soup plays for many.
Nicole talks about her first “big” soup (asparagus). She talks about her experience balancing taking care of a newborn and also taking care of her business in its infancy stages. She then talks about the thought process behind naming her business. Noreen and Nicole discuss eating properly and Nicole talks about the fact that we as a society struggle with our need to eat healthy and think about the types of food we’re allowing to enter our bodies but also our need to constantly be productive.
Nicole talks about how her business can come to your door including fresh direct and ordering straight from the website. She talks about new developments in her business (she also has smoothies now). The best thing about splendid spoon is that everything is plant-based, vegan, and she has a good balance of micros (protein, fats, etc.) Nicole talks about how she became an entrepreneur and the roles being flexible and trusting herself both played in her success.
Noreen asks Nicole what challenges she faces now in her business. Nicole talks about growth and learning even at this stage in her success. She talks about learning through discomfort and difficult situations and later about the challenges of being a parent and being a business owner and how it reveals what you should work on about yourself. She talks about her last (super unhealthy) meal and about where to order from splendid spoon.
