[EPISODE] Writing On The Wall
HALLOWEEN…one of the spookiest holidays of the year. David describes the time he walked inside a specific house that he always wanted to take a look at. While looking haunted physically on the outside, he couldn’t believe the beauty of the house from the inside. He was mostly mesmerized by the walls which had some excellent texture of wallpaper filled with colors, writings that would fade away, and wonderful mysteries. He then reminds everyone that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes.
David’s guest for the night is Brendan McLarney from McLarney Wallpaper and Painting Company. When asked about what brings out beauty, Brendan believes that color and texture makes the interior a room look more beautiful and eye-opening. He begins to opens up about a typical day on the job and how putting on wallpaper in a room has to be measured and installed precisely so that everything part of the room matches, in which he admits is very difficult. Plus, the guys get into the illusion and image of wallpaper that can help make rooms stand out, the techniques of making different wallpaper flow well from room to room, and David shares some experiences working on projects with Brendan.
The guys continue their discussion on wallpaper with a story on how Brendan put in a Danish wallpaper over the entire room (including the ceiling). While it was very challenging for him, Brendan says that staying focused and making sure everything is correct really helped him accomplished that project. Also, a short talk on liners, the type of wallpaper that will look best for many homes, and the process of choosing and installing grasscloth.
David and Brendan take listener questions to end the show. Brendan’s tip for those that want wallpaper is to always consult with a wallpaper professional before purchasing. He also explains the process of removing wallpaper, the techniques to install fabric back paper, and the lifespan of any particular wallpaper. Plus, defining different terms when it comes to the wallpaper industry.
