On this week’s episode, Tony welcomes Marc Halpert back onto the show and they talk about Linkedin and how it’s an essential tool for nonprofits and anyone in the corporate business.
Tony opens the show previewing his next show, the 400th show, and talks about his sponsors. He then welcomes his guest, Marc Halpert from Connect 2 Collaborate. He talks about his book, LinkedIn Marketing Techniques for Law and Professional Practices. Next they talk about the importance of a tool like Linkedin and how useful it is. They proceed to talk about the failings of a lot of nonprofits and Marc goes into how he advises people avoid those pitfalls in his book. Next they talk about a lot of the inner workings of nonprofits and how they are large businesses in their own right and need to start the act as such. Marc talks about how it is essential for nonprofits and individuals need to have updated and detailed Linkedin pages.
Next, Marc talks more about his book and how attention diversion is essential and that the nonprofit field is competitive. It’s important for nonprofits to know what they are about and what makes them unique before they bring people in. Next Marc talks about how hard it may be to include your life’s work into a few characters on Linkedin. He advises people to find someone to read their Linkedin to see if it accurately describes them. He advise that a Linkedin should a newspaper like headline, into a brief description, then into a sort of personal bio and experience section, and a section that details your skills.
